Learning through teaching

Tonight was my turn to teach in AWANA. Most people that know me know that I don’t like to speak in public, even if it is in front of 3rd-6th grade kids. I usually dread having to do this one (supposedly) simple task. Good thing God knows what I can handle. I talked about what a “spiritual birthday” means. Most of the kids did not know this “Christian lingo”. I really felt like God was in control. I felt like God pressed this on my heart a while back. We have MANY birthdays in our family in the month of March, and I felt like God wanted me to talk about our re-birthdate. My challenge to the kids was to ask themselves if they had a spiritual birthday. We discussed different verses in the Bible that show us how we can become a Christian. I just pray that God will use this to get the kids thinking about their eternity and nailing it down if it’s not already. My spiritual birthday is April 5, 1992. I was a senior in high school and I was having so many doubts about my salvation. I nailed it down that night with my mom and dad by my side. I have never had any doubts since that night. I hope that this gets you thinking about your spiritual birthday. Until next time…

The Blood

I’m almost finished with the book of Leviticus. Tonight I read in chapter 16 & 17 and something really struck me. In ch. 17 v. 11 it says, “For the life of a creature is in the blood, and I have given it to you to make atonement for yourselves on the altar; it is the blood that makes atonement for one’s life.” This is just a foreshadowing of the ultimate sacrifice that was made for us. Because of Jesus’ blood, we have life everlasting. I just really like this verse, so I thought I would share it. Until next time…

Welcome to devotions!

February 11, 2008 in Uncategorized by andrea

Ok, so to be honest, it’s been quite a while since I’ve been faithful with my devotions. This is something that I have been struggling with especially since my daughter was born last July. I know that this should be the most important aspect of my life…spending time with God, reading His word, and talking with Him daily. I’m hoping that I can use this site to help me be accountable and responsible with my time with God. This should be a priority in our lives. I’ll try to post the things that I’m learning in my devotions. I am reading in Leviticus about the different type of offerings that were sacrificed and why there were different ones. I’m excited to learn what God has to show me. Until next time……
